How to Password-Protect a PDF
- Upload your PDF by clicking the upload area or dragging and dropping it.
- Enter a strong password in the first field. The strength indicator shows how secure it is.
- Re-enter the same password in the Confirm Password field.
- Click Lock PDF & Download. The encrypted file will download automatically.
- Open the downloaded PDF in any viewer — it will prompt for your password before displaying content.
Password Tips
- Use at least 8 characters mixing uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.
- Avoid using names, birthdays, or common words.
- Save your password — once set, it cannot be recovered or reset by this tool.
Is this secure? Yes. Your file is processed fully client-side inside your internet browser using standard PDF encryption specifications. We do not use any server to process the lock, meaning your data never leaves your device and remains 100% private.
